In the period 3-10 September, 2013, the APEC “Women and the Economy Forum” was convened in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia.
More than 800 participants from 21 Asia-Pacific region economies participated in this important event.
The Women and the Economy Forum (WEF) consisted of
three components:
1. A Policy Partnership on Women and the Economy
(PPWE) meeting, including a meeting of the PPWE Management Council
2. A Public-Private Dialogue on Women and the
Economy (PPDWE)
3. A High Level Policy Dialogue on Women and the
Economy (HLPDWE)
The agenda of the Forum included several plenary meetings, panel discussions, break-out sessions, Woman-Innovator Award Ceremony, networking sessions, field trips to businesses run by Indonesian women- entrepreneurs.
The main goal of the Forum was to discuss and develop
a set of recommendations to Leaders about concrete actions APEC can take to
enhance economic participation of women.
Elena Fedyashina,
Executive director of the Committee of 20 received an invitation to join the
Russian delegation and to speak at the Forum from the Ministry of Economic
Development of RF. She was approved to
speak at the Panel discussion “Structural Reform. Financial Market and Labour
Market Policy”.
The special brochure with the results of the survey with the general info about the project dedicated to best practices and the relevant facts about the topics discussed was prepared for the Forum.
The issues discussed at the Panel included: structural reform, regulations and policies related to financial market and labor market needed to be pursued, mainly those that would enable women to reform and contribute to economic growth.
Elena’s speech was accepted with great interest, many questions were asked. It was recognized as very informative and successful.
The brochure was disseminated during the session as well as during the networking sessions and field trips. It was in great demand with the participants.
Elena Fedyashina was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for the Rigorous Support as Speaker and received the Award for the Rigorous Support as “Woman Innovator in Economic Development”. The Certificates were presented and signed by Ms Linda Amalia Sari, the Chair of the Forum, Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Protection, Republic of Indonesia.
